Sport in a huge multicultural country like India has always experienced issues stemming from discrimination on the basis of caste, creed and gender. Besides this, disadvantaged children including juvenile offenders and those from underprivileged socio-economic backgrounds continue to face challenges when it comes to playing the sport they love.

AJIF believes that discrimination of any kind, be it gender, religion, physical abilities or socio-economic background, has no place in the field of sport. For an athlete to reach their full sporting potential, it is important that we create a safe and fostering environment for them to practise sport by removing all forms of discrimination from the sporting selection criteria.

Because only when girls are encouraged to pick up boxing gloves instead of aprons; when differently abled children not just participate but also excel in the same sports as their able-bodied peers; and when Hindus, Muslims, Sikhs and Christians all play under the same roof without fear of violence is when discrimination in sport will be a thing of the past.
